Technicians from Smeed Communication Services have finished installing security cameras at Danebo Elementary.

Nearly 100 security cameras are now being installed at nine Bethel schools. The systems are expected to be in operation by the start of the coming school year.

Enhanced security was one of the many important improvements supported by the Bethel school bond, passed overwhelming by voters last November.

The cameras will provide an extra set of eyes in both high traffic and less traveled areas of the schools. TV monitors will be installed in each school’s front office, providing office staff a live look from the cameras.

Recorders will file up to two weeks of video surveillance, giving Bethel schools an improved measure of security after hours and overnight, as well.
